Overwhelming God's Heart
“You reach into my heart With one flash of your eyes I am undone by your love, my beloved, my equal, my bride…I am overcome by merely a glance from your worshipping eyes, for you have stolen my heart.” Song of Songs 4:9 (TPT)
What I love about this intimacy is there are no qualifications needed, no standards to be met. We do not need to obtain holiness, righteousness, or inner beauty by our own efforts. There is no need to find the right worship songs to sing or prayers to be prayed. All we need is to surrender from a place of humble gratitude and speak of our authentic love!
In verse 16, the Shulamite Bride responds to the King’s vulnerable admission of how she affects His heart.
“Then may your awakening breath blow upon my life until I am fully yours. Breathe upon me with your Spirit wind. Stir up the sweet spice of your life within me. Spare nothing as you make me your fruitful garden. Hold nothing back until I release your fragrance. Come walk with me.” Song of Songs 4:16 (TPT)
Her surrender is complete. She fully opens her heart up to the presence of her King. She allows Him access to transform her into the perfection He created. As we allow ourselves to believe we unravel God’s heart and agree with the identity He speaks over us, so too may our hearts cry out in this way!
As we bow in humility and agree that He qualifies us, we find there is nothing else. We willingly open up the deepest places in our hearts and minds to Him and reach for His heart in return. We submit readily to His whisper, “Come away with me”, and we sink deeply into His arms, resting our head on His chest and reply, “Yes Lord”.
