 Landscape

The sun exposed the glory of the scene from the down.

Lighting up trees of every shape, revealing shades of green and hues of brown.

All rolling towards the mountain that rose from the bed of layered shapes from nature’s gown.

The landscape shone as lambs and cattle sang their song.

The light faded, drawing a veil, and all was gone.

I had drunk in such visual delights and remembered all the details throughout the night.

I longed for the morning to reveal again the glorious sight.

But alas, as I awoke, a grey curtain was before my eyes.

The mountain wore a mist under the dark and gloomy skies.

The wind tossed rain at an angle across the scene.

And only a clumpy green and muddy field was all that could be seen.

The animals did not sing today, but huddled under trees.

Shielding their little ones from the relentless breeze.

I was forlorn at first, but remembered what had been.

I knew the mountain was ahead of me, although now hidden, no longer to be seen.

I applied my mind to recall each bush and tree.

Every shape and colour that had once been before me.

But what’s this?

A ray thrown out as the sun breaks through dark clouds.

Illuminating again the land that lay hidden under grey shrouds.

More light beams appeared, pushing back dark gloomy skies.

And rising from the landscape, a prism glowed before my eyes.

The shimmering, glistening jewels of a rainbow arched up over the ground.

The rainstorm had relented, moving on to other places to hound.

And now the vista more glorious shows all that was seen before.

With the crown of glorious arching colours, rising from the floor.
