Article Eight
The Way Ahead
We become lost in the moment as we focus our attention on the promise or passage before us. Those things that have been with us all our lives, our bad habits, weaknesses, and the inability to be who we desire to be, He implores us to forget.
We leave it all behind and allow Him to become the centre of our attention. We bow in reverence before Him, as we allow ourselves to behold His might, His splendour and His kindness. We choose His truth over the lies that have encrusted themselves around our hearts and minds. This truth rises up like a sword to cut through, bringing our breakthrough from all we've known before.
It's in our everyday that we choose to say “no” to compromise, bad habits, and to choose to love when it's painful, to stand in integrity and to hold on to truth when it feels impossible. That is why Christ sent His Spirit to live within us. He empowers us with moral courage and resolve to overcome and His whispering wisdom and counsel guides our steps. Holy Spirit speaks within us, to guide and direct us, even if the answer is to stand still and trust Him in all things.
Whether we are riding in success, or floundering in failure, we surrender and submit to His Kingship within us. We say “yes” to His authority and wise counsel, and “no” to all we've known previously. We look away from the things that gave us comfort before. We forget their embrace as we choose the Word of God and the Spirit within us, to rise up and become the beautiful brightness that He is so ravaged by.
He knows who He created us to be, and where we still walk in darkness, along with the shadows and fears that remain. He doesn't want us to be held back by the past failings of ourselves or others, nor the brokenness that has caused pain or the burdens that have caused our weariness.
He calls us to stand alongside Him and partner with Him for every situation in our lives and the lives of those around us. As we do this, we start to see His favour, His goodness, and the very answers we have been holding out for.
We see Him rule and reign in every area of our lives that has been handed over to His kingship. Worry for the future, and the regret of the past are crushed under our feet as we move forward in fresh hope that arises from our coming in reverence and submission to our great big God!
